These are my boyfriends favorite socks. He is walking at work all day long and these make a huge difference in his comfort. They have also been some of the most durable socks he has owned.
Fits socks just keep delivering on their mission to make good socks. These are definitely more cushiony than the normal kind, verging on pretty thick. Unless you need something truly super thick, these should do you for hiking, snow boots, etc. That's my opinion.
The new socks seem to be made from a more stretchy material than in the past. As a result, they shift and bunch more. I prefer the old material and the tighter fit.
I have received at least 6 emails in the course of the week since my purchase. One would suffice.
I've been wearing a couple of pairs of the Medium Rugged Crew intermittently but steadily for a couple of years now. I've been trying different socks as an alternative to the Smart Wool light and medium hikers which i used for years, but recently, they seem to be made with a tighter cuff that leaves a significant indentation in my leg after a few hours of wearing them. This seems to be a characteristic of a number of brands now. Happily, these FITS don't do that. The fit is good throughout—the cuff is snug enough to stay up but not so tight that it dents my leg, and the bottom of the sock hugs well with no "extra" fabric to bunch up anywhere. My usual shoe size is 11.5, and the Medium Ruggeds extra-large are about perfect. (Side note: Unfortunately, the FITS Light Hiker Crew is still too tight for me in the cuff, so the search for a lighter-weight sock continues.) For a "medium"-weight sock, these aren't especially thick, but seem warmer than one would expect for the weight of the fabric. I've used these for outdoor work and hiking, and i think their best use is in cooler, "in-between" weather. For me, they are probably a little too warm for mid-summer use, and not heavy enough for winter use, unless, perhaps, for fairly energetic activity. The only signs of (moderate) wear so far are at the bottom the the heels and ball of the foot just behind the big toe, but nothing out of the ordinary. Most of the cushioning is still intact. I'd expect them to be serviceable for at least a couple of more years of regular use.
Your sock size shouldn’t be a guessing game. Our socks range from small to double XL, but the best way to know the perfect fit for you is to match your shoe size to the chart on the left. That way, you’ll know the size you select will give you the fit and feel you expect.
Between sizes? Go with your gut, but rest assured that your socks will still fit great. If you receive your order and find yourself wishing you’d gone up or down a size, just let us know. We’ll happily send you replacements for your preferred size.
Concerned about laundry mix-ups? All FITS® socks are coordinated by color and size, based on the colors you see on the size chart. So, you won’t have to worry about mixing up your sizes with the other FITS® wearers in your home. (But stray socks mysteriously going missing in the dryer? Unfortunately, we can’t help with that.)
