Form, Function, and Flair

I seriously love getting new socks, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s the way they feel on my feet, especially for that first run. I often buy new socks on a whim, just because I like the way they look, or because a fellow runner told me I had to have a pair. Regardless, new socks are always a welcome commodity.

FITS has an amazing reputation in the running community. While they have running options, they also are styles that are great for hiking, walking and just about any other activity.

They are made in the USA with Merino Wool. Merino Wool is magic in my experience. It keeps you dry and warm but doesn’t feel like “old-school” wool which is usually heavy and itchy. There’s nothing better than the first time you try on good quality socks, and the FITS socks, as expected, did not disappoint.

I slipped on the Electric Light Runner socks in the low style and they felt like heaven from the start, especially in the toes. This is really no surprise since they are designed with high-impact cushioning at the toe cup and heel lock.

I took them on a short and easy 5 mile run followed by a cardio class at a new gym. Low cut socks can be a gamble because some like to slip down to the bottom of your shoes, which is really the absolutely worst when you’re stuck in the middle of your run. There was absolutely no slippage from the FITS Socks. In addition to the comfortable “hug” of the socks, they are very breathable. The stretchy lightweight fabric keeps them extremely light on your feet, but they are also durable.

The day after the 5-mile run, I went on some moderate distance walks in the Light Hikers. They disappeared from my thoughts, as good socks do. Not only are they super comfortable, but they have super cool designs. The Mountain Top is reminiscent of the Cascades while the Spicy Sport version harkens back to a feeling of gym class. Each of the pairs we received have four different color options.
