The best ski socks will keep your feet warm and comfortable, from first chair to last.

By Lydia Mansel

Before my first ski trip of the season, I always conduct an audit of my gear — everything from my shell jacket to my boot bag — and determine if it’s still in working order. After all, I don’t want to suit up, only to realize my base layers are riding up or my gloves have a hole in them. Once all the larger, bulkier items are accounted for, I can focus on the smaller, but just as critical, pieces. Namely, my ski socks.

Having the right ski socks is one of the most important aspects of the winter sport; with a quality pair, your feet will stay warm, comfortable, and protected for a full day on the slopes. Needless to say, a not-so-great pair can cause more harm than good. To find the best ski socks for all users, the T+L team tested a variety of brands and styles while out skiing. From newbies to experts, these are the best ski socks to get you through the day.

Fits Light Ski Sock

Fits Light Ski Sock
Why We Love It
  • The cushioning is incredibly effective for avoiding any damage to your shins caused by friction.

What to Consider
  • They’re designed with compression features, which may lead to a tighter fit than some skiers prefer.

Not everyone loves a cushioned ski sock, but those who do will be satisfied with the unisex Fits Light Ski OTC. During our on-the-mountain testing, we found that the cushioned areas in the shin, heel, and toe box staved away any rubbing or uncomfortable friction. The sock is also designed with tapered compression around the ankle (to keep it in place) and the soft Merino wool aids in temperature regulation. Even after an eight-hour day, we found we had no real complaints — the material wicked away moisture, our feet stayed nice and toasty, and there were no obvious odors.
